"VICTORIA REGINA" IN JUNE.
■Laurence Housman's lovely i series of episodes in the life of Queen Victoria which have been grouped! under the title of "Victoria Regina" is to_oa produced in London at last, and Gilbert Miller is optimistic enough to state that the opening date will be June 21, this year. It was recently stated that the Lord Chamberlain would consider applications for licence for plays dealing with Queen Victoria, after June 20, and as there seems little doubt of ' "Victoria Regina" .being passed, Mr. Miller, who presented it in New York after seeing it done at the Gate Theatre, London (a private.theatre) in 1935, is going ahead. It was one of New York's biggest theatrical sensations. Pamela Stanley,: . who played the Queen in the Gate production, ■ will be seen in the part . again. She has been? touring the States as Ophelia to the Hamlet of Leslie Howard. Settings arid costumes for the play will be designed by Rex Whistler, who was responsible; for th,e New York production.
