BOXING TONIGHT.
At the Town Hall this evening the much-talked-of • contest between "Young" Gildo and Clarrie Rayner will take place. The capabilities of both men are well - known although this will be the Filipino's first appearance before Wellington patrons. His lengthy and formidable international record, coupled with his' regent brilliant successes in this country; stamp the visitor as a boxer of exceptional merit, and on the other hand the aggressive Rayner is one of the toughest propositions in the ranks of New Zealand lightweights today., Both men have wound up their preparations to the satisfaction of their respective mentors and as the bout in terms of the articles is to be at catch weights the contestants will enter the ring fighting-strong in the absence of the usual arduous drying out to make weight limits under forfeit. ' A fast, attractive display , is expected and backed up by a selected list of amateur bouts the programme presents a worthy opening of the season effort on the part of the Wellington Boxing Association . . .-■
