STATE CONTROL OPPOSED

(Special to the "Evening Post.") PALMERSTON N., This Day. The position of B class radio stations was discussed by the Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce ' last evening when it was decided to support the endeavour being made to keep the stations on the air as already operated and secure protection' from copyright fees. • ' • ■

Plain speaking was indulged in by Mr.. F. G. Opie, who declared that State control of anything was bad enough, but State control of radio should be very strenuously opposed. "The Government should riot own a single radio station, in my opinion," he added. "It is contrary to the best principles to have a Government with a monopoly of radio."
