Mr. A. T. S. McGhie, who'left Wellington at the end of last year to settle in England, has obtained an important public appointment as assistant secretary to the Central Council for Health Education. There were over 300 applicants for the post. . The aim of this council, the offices of which are in Russell Square, is to co-ordinate the work of the various organisations concerned in the campaign at present- being conducted in the United Kingdom to promote healthy living and study of the principles of hygiene.

The Rev. H. G. Taylor (Wellington) has been visiting relatives in Caithness, and is at present spending two weeks with other relatives in Monmouthshire and Glamorgan. - On May 21 he will take up his duties as assistant priest at St. Simon's Church; Bethnal Green.

Dr. H. S. H. Gilmer (formerly of Wellington) and now practising in Hertfordshire, has had conferred upon him by Cambridge University the degree of Bachelor of Medicine. • -When he was at Cambridge University Jesus was his college. : ■-.••.'
