PROTECTION SOCIETY
THE WORK DONE
Few people are aware of the amount of work done by. the.Society for the Protection of Women and Children. The office is situated at Bowen House, handy : to buses, trams, trains, and boats. Here those in search of help and advice are kindly received,' and'encouraged to state their particular difficulties. Many women (and men also), too shy and retiring to seek official or even legal help, and labouring under severe disability, are thus able to have their problems solved. They are not only advised, but put into, touch with the right official and legal' quarters. The society's honorary legal advisers are; at all times ready; to. give professional help. The various Government Departments are helpful, and also the medical profession, -while the different social welfare organisations give prompt and cheerful co-operation. The society does not pretend to take the place of any of these aids, but it does render service ■on a basis of goodfellowship and common sense, as a link.
A comfortable waiting : room is provided, and appointments 'can be made by telephone.
