ROAD TRANSPORT
LONG-DISTANCE SERVICES
(Special to the "Evening Post.")
PALMERSTON N., This Day.
"I am glad you mentioned the matter of long-distance road transport," said' Mr. P. Skoglund, No. 2 Transport Licensing Authority, at a meeting1 in Feilding last evening when questioned as* to the future of the motor transport service between Wellington and Feilding. "Whatever Department takes over the long-distance motor transport, and I take it you refer to the Railway Department, there will still be a long-distance motor service." -
Mr. J. G. Eliott (representing the Manawatu Auctioneers' Association): We don't know.
"I feel sure about it," replied Mr. Skoglund. "We cannot go backwards. The people have been so used to the motor service that, no matter what happens, I think the motor service will have to be carried on by whoever takes over the present long-dis-tance services. The people will demand it. That is my private opinion and I am quite certain that the longdistance motor transport service will remain." ■
