CONDUCT IN STREET
"MENTAL ABERRATION"
Pleading not guilty to using obscene language in a public place, John Kennedy, waterside worker, aged 65, appeared before Mr. E. D. Mdsley, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today.
Evidence was given that last Saturday afternoon 'the accused niade a disturbance in the Mount Cook Police Station. He was put outside, and attracted a crowd by his behaviour. On b'e'ingi again refused entrance to the station, he used the.language which was the subject of the charge.
"It was mental aberration —1 can't help that. I don't remember what I said,"said the accused. . '.
. The Magistrate: Well, what are we going to do with you? ■'{. . The'accused: I don't know, I'm sure. Give me a good job and £500 a year and I'll come through all right.
The Magistrate: You are convicted and discharged. Get along home now, and don't come .back here again.
