MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE

EVIDENCE OF THE ACCUSED

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

DUNEDIN, This Day.

The case in which Alfred Cbapman is charged with manslaughter was resumed at the Supreme Court today. The defence called the accused, who said that the magnetic brake of the tramcar failed, also the hand brake, and the car left the line as he was in process of applying a third (emergency) brake. Other motormen gave evidence of occasional partial or complete magnetic brake failures in their experience. The case is proceeding.
