IMPORTATION OF PLAYERS

The sports editor" of the "Daily Sketch," L. V. Manning, predicts that the Imperial Cricket Conference in the middle of June will tackle the evil of unofficial cricket tours, which do not give English players a chance to rest. Manning also mentions that as a result of Sir Julien Cahn's recent tour of Ceylon two • Leicestershire-born players will have to stand aside in 1939 in favour of the Australians Mudge and Walsh. The time has come, he says, to make a repetition of that impossible "The home supply is not so thin that we need recruiting expeditions from overseas," concludes the writer.
