DECADE DINNER
RONGOTAI OLD BOYS
More thati 120 old boys of Rongotai College attended a highly-successful reunion dinner at the Empire Hotel last night to mark the decade of the college. Reminiscences were many, and an interesting feature of the evening were the two-minute speeches given by men representative of the various stages in the life of the college. Appreciative reference was made to the services of Mr. F- Martyn Renner, principal of the college. The president of the Old Boys' Association (Mr. W. F. Tuckwell) was in the chair.
Replying to the toast of "The School" (proposed by Mr. Tuckwell), Mr. Renner impressed upon the old boys the value of the training and traditions of the school, and recalled some of the earlier events in its history. Other toasts honoured were:— "The Staff," proposed by Mr. R. G. Lancaster, and responded ,to by Mr. H. T. M.rFathers; 'iAbsent Old Boys," proposed' by Mr. S. M. -Kinross and responded to by Mr. G. Bell; "The Football Club," proposed by Mr. J. Evans, and responded to by Mr. J. Baigent.
