NEW ZEALANDERS' SUCCESS

Miss Esther Fisher's public appearances in London have been all too rare of late, so that ah added interest attaches' to' this week's recital at the Wigmore.Hall. Her programme was well selected and varied.! .' . The hall-was very full, those present including Viscountess Snowden, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Hanan, Sir Frank and Lady Newnes, Sir Alexander and Lady Herdman, Lady Myers, Mrs. Ross-Lowe, Sir Hugh Allen (principal, Royal College, of Music), Lady Augusta Inskip, Sir John and Lady Barran, Lady Crosfield, Mr. Guy Stanford, Mr. and Mrs. Augustus ;Ralli, Mr. Cyril : Scott, Mr. Roger Quitter, Mrs. Frank Standfleld, and Mrs. N. S. Falla. ■•• ' » Miss! Fisher gave ; two recitals In Glasgow recently. Miss-Stella Murray gave one of her popular song recitals at the Aeolian Hair on May 5.'- Her voice, which seems to have gained in resonance and clarity! of tone, was .heard to advantage in varied groups of songs, representing the' classical, romantic, and modern styles,. in all of which, and in soms familiar settings of sacred lyrics, the singer notable successes. Enthusiastic applause brought ;Miss Murray -repeatedly back to- the.- platform. .Many bouquets of flowers were received. ■ ■ ■
