Mr. Neville Chamberlain was unanimously elected to the leadership of ths Conservative Party. In returning thanks, Mr. Chamberlain declared that he was, not afraid of tae physical labours ahead.-' "I have not ,sought this or any other office," .he said, "but I gladly accept because-.§f your whole-hearted support. My father and my brother had higher qualifications for the Prime Ministership than I, and I regard my position as a consummation of their life work."
