BIRD FANCIERS

♦ HUTT VALLEY CLUB A large and enthusiastic general meeting of members of the Hutt Valley Poultry, Pigeon, and Cage Bird Club was held this week. Among the matters of interest to visitors and exhibitors discussed was a system of benching birds so as to avoid mistakes. Final arrangements were made for the annual show on June 3 and 4. Numerous entries were received and the prospects are for a high-class exhibition. In view of the amount of work he had to perform, the club, at life close of last year, made a donation to the secretary, Mr. Gould. At Monday's meeting Mr. Gould returned the donation in the form oE a cup, to be known as the Fanciers' Cup for competition jin budgerigar classes. ! The president. Mr. Gillancl, praised the sporting spirit displayed by Mr. Gould, and a hearty vote of thanks was carried by acclamation.
