FAREWELL PARTIES
Prior to her departure for England by the Akaroa, Mrs. P. Williams was given several farewell parties. Miss Dowen Beasley was hostess at one cheery gathering at the D.1.C., where a delicious morning tea was served, the table being most artistically decorated. The guest of honour was presented with a charming shoulder spray. Mrs. M. _H. Carroll also gave friends an. opportunity to wish Mr. and Mrs. Williams "Bon Voyage," when competitions and musical items filled a happy evening. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. J. Wolfe, Mrs. H. Ridler, Misses D. Beasley, E. Hepburn. R. Wolfe, L. Wolfe, E. Gamble, and D. Ward, and Messrs. Wolfe, P. Gould. J. Gourley, N. Denton, L. Gamble, and R. Wickliffe. • Mrs. C. 13. Dalziell-Kernohan, with her son, Robin, Miss M. V. Dalziell, and Mrs. Marton. (Wellington), has returned from a delightful motor tour through Scotland and the English Lake district. After being in London during May they will make a tour of Southern England. Lord Hawke, Xieutr-nant-Coloie] R. S. Rait-Kerr (secretary of the M.C.C.), and others from headquarters, were at Waterloo when the hew Zealand cricketers, including ;!ielr manager, T. C. Lowry, arrived on the same Irain as the Prime Minister, Mr. M. J. Savage. Net practice began during the afternoon at Lord's.
