TOMORROW'S PROSPECTS (Special to the "Evening Post.") CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The Canterbury Park Trotting Club will hold its Winter Meeting at Addington tomorrow. The race track has been reconditioned since Easter. With a lot of wet weather lately there was a fenr that the track might not be sufficiently set to provide firm going, but with good conditions now it should be in excellent order. The stakes in the Dominion are greatly in excess of those given by any Australian club, and it is pleasing to siotice that the totalisator figures at the New Zealand trotting meetings this season have shown a big increase on corresponding figures for last year. What the tolalisator. has done for trotting in Adelaide can be . gauged from the following comparisons: Three years ago, a few months before the machine was introduced to Wayville, a seven-event programme with £141 in stakes was held. Seventy horses competed, and twenty-nine bookmakers operated. At a recent meeting 136 different horses competed in eight events for £770 stake-money.
