OLD BOYS' CONCERN
, Concern at the number of students who were leaving Wellington College before their education was completed— as a result of the operation of the industrial legislation—was . expressed by several speakers at the annual meeting of the Old Boys' Association last evening. . ■ .
Sir James Elliott said that if boys wanted to get on in life, they should not leave school till they had matriculated. It did not matter how young a boy was when he matriculated, because the university system in New Zealand enabled him to continue his studies a| night.
Mr.- L. McKenzie said people were missing the opportunity the secondary schools provided for their children, and did not appreciate the value- of those schools. That might be because education in New Zealand* was easy and free.
