GOLF MATCH INCIDENT
LONDON, May 25.
The Hon. Michael Scott was the victim of a curious mistake of his own making in the second round of the amateur golf championship. Believing that his opponent, Cyril Tolley, was 2 up, Scott picked up On the seventeenth green,. saying, "Thanks for a very pleasant game." Actually Tolley was only 1 up. He suggested that the ball be replaced and the hole played but, but under the rules a decision to give up a hole cannot be altered and recalled.
