VIRGINIA BRUCE'S FILM.
Though she is a well-known figure on -tlje screen, Virginia Bruce seemed to have become typed until she was given the opportunity by Universal to demonstrate' the real range of her talents '. in "When Love ■is young," which is due for early release.." In this first starring role she sings, dances, and shows .ability in comic. situations. Two'of the songs she sings, which were specially written for hen by'the composers of the score of "Top of the Town," are "Did Anyone Ever. Tell You?," and "When Love is Young." Kent': Taylor is Virginia Bruce's leading man in ..this film..- Also cast is Walter Brennan, the young man who won an academy award as . the old man in "Come and Get It." Brennan has a genius for aged characterisations. "When Love is Young" marks the advent of a new '. director, '■• Hal Mphr, whose years of experience in various technical capacities reached, a climax last year when he;-was awarded an academy award for the finest photography of the year in! "Midsummer Night's Dream." The/story-is that of. a country girl who^ despite the ironic remarks of her schoolmates, " makes good in New York.
