INFANTILE PARALYSIS

OPENING OF SCHOOLS

There has been a substantial improvement in the position locally so far as infantile paralysis is concerned. The last positive notification to the health authorities in Wellington was made a week ago, but this concerned a child who had been ill for a week before that. Actually, a "Post" reporter was informed today, no case has arisen since May 16. As announced last week by the Minister of Education (the Hon. P. Fraser). the schools in Wellington city and suburbs, the Hutt Valley up to and. including Upper Hutt, Eastbourne, Day's Bay, and on the western side south of the summit of Paekakariki Hill, will reopen next Monday. .
