NAVAL DIVISION

On the termination of H.M.S. Dunedin's commission in the New Zealand service on May 4, the High Commissioner, Mr. W. J. Jordan, sent a telegram to Commander Willett: "Please accept and convey to all officers and men under your command reverting to the Royal Navy my best wishes and thanks for past services under the New Zealand flag." .

The commander replied: "Grateful thanks for your kind message. We all regret that our association with New Zealand and her men has ended. It has been a proud and happy honour to serve the Dominion."

H.M.S. Leander replaces the Dunedin on the New Zealand station.

With a view to providing the facilities of electricity to backblock settlers, the Central Hawko's Bay Power Board is erecting over fifty miles of new line and is spending £10,000.
