NEW STATION
EFFECT ON TAWA FLAT The official opening' of the new Wellington railway station and the new line through, to Tawa Flat on June 19 would mean that Tawa Flat and Porirua would be within approximately 15 minutes and 20 minutes respectively from the new station," said Mr. R. G. Mexted, retiring chairman of the Makara County Council at the annual meeting today. "This council must appreciate the fact that there will be considerable development in these areas from a suburban point of view, and in the near future we will be faced with the providing of public amenities in anticipation of the growth •of population. This is a big question and careful consideration must be given to any proposals submitted," he said.
