LONDON, May 25. In the opening rounds of the amateur golf championship at Sandwich five out of the six Americans were defeated. They included Trautner, who went down to the South African, Bobby Locke, joint favourite with Tolley. L. Hartley defeated Gutman, the solitary German competitor.
