"Evening Post" Photo. Construction work on the Western Hutt access road is now nearing completion. The picture above shows the last big cut well started at Haywards; that on the right shows the road being widened by the removal of the end of a spur jutting out to the river and railway line; and inset at top may be seen a mechanical "navvy" in action where spoil is being taken from the bank of the Hutt River near Silverstream to make a retaining wall above the proposed bridge.
