AWAPUNI'S FOXTON TEAM (Special to the "Evening Post.") PALMERSTON N., This Day. ; Except for a light fog, which at.times made if impossible to clock horses passing the half-mile and the three furlongs, the weather was delightful for track work at Awapuni yesterday morning, when chief interest was centred in horses with engagements at Foxton. The course proper was available for fast work, but the going was dead and times comparatively slow. The flags were out in the middle of the course. , >.j Among the first to work were Chat (R. Chisholm) and Cloudy Bay (W. J. Broughton), and their task was one of seven furlongs. They were not much under the 15sec to the furlong, and they were together until well to the straight. Cloudy Bay then drew out and won fairly comfortably. The time was lmin 38 3-ssec. Dawning Light (W. J. Broughton) was sprinted six furlongs with Hunting Lodge/(G. Tattersall). Dawning Light had a shade the better of the start, but Hunting Lodge was never far away, and she had it on Dawning Light over the last bit. The time was a fraction under lmin 26sec, and itwas a satisfactory trial by both.. Dawning Light is engaged in the Himitangi Hack Handicap on Saturday, and Hunting • Lodge in the Kebbell Memorial Handicap. _ , J Coyle's two Cup candidates, Round Score (G. Tattersall) and Gay Boy (Broughton), were galloped a mile. The pace was not on in the early part, and both horses were pulling very hard. Round Score was about half a length to the good at the half-mile, which was reached in a little .better than even time. Gay Boy was practically on terms at the home turn, but fifty yards from the post Round .Score looked a likely winner. Gay Boy, however, had plenty in reserve, and
