NUIPAI RESUMES WORK
Nuipai, a three-year-old gelding belonging to one of the finest staying families in Australia and New Zealand, has rejoined Mrs. J. Campbell's team at Riccarton. He raced three times unsuccessfully last season and' was then put aside in order that he' might be given time to develop. The sf ell has done him good, as he has grown and filled out, and he looks as though he has done useful work in recent months. . . Through his dam, First Class, Nuipai comes from the family that produced Wakeful, Mentor (Melbourne Cup), and the great New Zealand' horse 'Noctuiform. His half-sister, Society, by Absurd, produced the well-per-formed Talking. First Class, winner of the A.J.C. and V.R.C Derbies this season, was bred by Mr. W. G. Stead in 1916,' and was by All Black (sire of Desert Gold, Maid of the Mist, Pershore, El Dorado,' etc.) from Class, by Wallace from La Tosca, by Robinson Crusoe. . Nuipai's sire, Roydon, is by Lemberg's great son, Ellangowan, winner of the Two Thousand Guineas and £14,885 in stakes. To date his progeny have not done anything out of the ordinary, but not many of them have been raced. ANSWER TO CORRESPONDENT. "K.O.F.''~S.D., £2 11s. ■
