Mr. F. W. Weston, of the Hansard staff, has tendered his resignation, to take effect at the end of July. .The oldest officer of the Legislative Department, Mr. Weston has been connected with it since. August, 1902, but his association with the New Zealand Parliament dates back,to 51 years ago, when he became representative of the "Evening Post" in' the Press Gallery of the House of Representatives. Eleven of those years cover his period of subeditorship of "The Post," during which, however, he was'in continuous touch with Parliament and, its doings. He has seen in office 15- different Ministries from the Stout-Vogel to the Savage Administration. None'of the present members of the Legislature were in) either House at tha beginning of his Parliamentary period. Mr. Weston has also worked, under six different Speakers of the House and eight of the Legislative Council besides two who wera acting1 Speakers^for a few months. For over 30 yearVMr. Weston has recorded the proceedings of . the . annual communication 'of the Masonic Grand New Zealand. Mr. H.';H.
