MCCO!».IACK'S PAINTINGS The individuality of Mr.-'T. A. McCormack is well exemplified in the exhibition of his watercolours which is being held this week in the studio in Hill Street. His style is arresting and distinctive, and to the discriminating it is an interesting development of contemporary art. Much of Mr. McCormack's woukmay be described as delicate harmonies in colour.. He paints scenes as they appear to the artist's trained eye. rather than' as th appear to the cursory, and untrained glance, hence his works need studying, for 'to a superficial glance they wil not reveal their beauty. Harbour and coastal scenes around Wellington Mr. McCormack has ;: 'painted with much subtlety and delicacy, mist, sunshine, arid storm all having , their; varying moods, captured in -several paintings. Exquisite delicacy and rhythmic design characterise his flower ■ studies, and all the paintings, no matter whether land or seascape ,or .still-life studies, give the immediate impression that they have been painted by an artist who, in addition to being a master of his medium, possesses a very penetrating vision. : . ■ ■ PETONE PARISH FESTIVAL; The annual patronal festival of St. Augustine's Anglican Church,' Petone, is being held today (St. Augustine's Day), and Archdeacon Russell, the first vicar of Petone, is taking part.
