WHY MR. BROADBENT RESIGNED
In our issue of April »6 we published a Press Association message suggesting that Mr. H. F. Broadbent had resigned from air line piloting'because he was required to get through despite the weather. The Press Association now wishes to state publicly that Mr. Broadbent did. not give the dangers of air line piloting, or that he was required to get through despite the weather, as the reason for his resigriation, but it was solely due to his desire to fly solo to England in an aftempt on the existing record that he resigned. Accordingly the Association wishes to apologise frankly to Mr. Broadbent for the erroneous impression the article created.
The Rev. J. J. Datson, formerly of Ohakune, returned "to Auckland by the Remuera on Sunday, after seven years' absence, in which time he filled the position of curate in two historic English churches. Mr. Datson has accepted a call to the vicarage of Opunak'e, where he will assume his new duties next Monday.
