Helmore has been included by the "Evening News" .in its' series "Strangers in Town"—interesting men and women. , This, recent arrival talked of the simplicity of life in a city like Christchurch as', compared with London. ' ■■ ' "You've no idea," he said, the difference. Offices all Close-at fiye;; there's tennis and golf at your, door,! simple: home life, no restaurants : or crowded clubs, and little traffic!. Over; there they talk of traffic congestion:' if they .were over here' five minutes: they would ,be killed! But though; traffic's greater. here,': courtesy and' driving ability are ; greater too. Thei last time I was over here I drove 7000' miles without a'-scratch—the first fort-! night after I got back I lost two mud' guards. . ; "There is no tipping in New Zealand. Do you know what that means? When I arrived three weeks ago I bought a hat, and out of curiosity I have calculated what it has cost me. It has cost me 12s a. week in cloakroom tips!"
