STABBING AFFRAY
PLEA OF GUILTY
INDIAN FOR SENTENCE
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, May 24. In the Magistrate's Court today, before Mr. H. W. Bundle, S.M, Jam Sher Allee, clonkeyman of the motorvessel Olivebank, was charged with having wounded the engine-room serang, Jabidallee, witn Intent' to do grievous bodily harm. The charge arose out of a stabbing affray which occurred on the Olivebank at Ravensbourne on April 9. The accused, who entered a plea of not guilty at the original hearing, admitted when he came before the Court again that he had stabbed Jabidallee, and in the circumstances the Magistrate, before committing the accused to the Supreme Court, remanded him for a further week to allow him to consider his plea. When the hearing was resumed today, Mr. J. G. Warrington, who appeared for Jam Sher .Allee, said he had discussed the position with his client, who now desired to" plead guilty. Evidence was given ,by the accused, who said that the dispute arose over money which he had given the complainant to keep for him, and which the complainant consistently refused to return. He allegea that when he insisted on repayment of the money the complainant lifted a stick.to.strike him, whereupon the accused, guarding 'his, head, with-his right hand, drew his knife with his left and stabbed him. The Magistrate committed the accused for sentence. ...
