CHARITABLE BEQUESTS

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. The estate of William Frederick Jacob, farmer, of Auckland, who died on May 5, has been sworn for probate at under £70,000. The bequests include £600 to the Wellington Diocesan Board, of Trustees, half to be used for rebuilding or restoring the Church of St. Agnes, at Kiwitea; £1000 to the same board for-the Wellington cathedral building fund; £1000 to the New Zealand Anglican Board of Missions for work in Melanesia. A bequest ha.s been made by the late George Henry Powley of £300 to the Auckland Masonic Temple fund, and one of £500 for the benefit of inmates of the Orphans' Home at Three Kings. After other ' payments are made the residue is to go to the Papakura Masonic Orphans' Home. Mrs. W. M. Maclntyre, of 30 Devon Street, had a lucky escape from serious injury when using kerosene to light a fire this morning. The linoleum caught fire and Mrs. Maclntyre was slightly burned on the foot. The Fire Brigade was called but by the time it arrived the blaze had been put out by Mr. Maclntyre.
