PAST YEAR'S WORK

The report of the mlssioner Cthe Rev. T Fielden Taylor), which.was pre-i. sented at the' annual meeting of the Wellington City Mission last night, showed that, at the present time fiftyseven men are being catered for at the mission's shelter. A total of 102 men are receiving meals from this shelter each day. A record number of 60 old-age'pensioners are receiving a hot meal every day at a cost of 5s a month. The mission's hostel for boys during the year lias been fully occupied, and it was found necessary to refuse assistance on occasions. The boys are only charged half-pay for accommodation at the hostel, and as a result the institution meant a loss of £254 during the year to the mission.
