"MORE THAN A SECRETARY."
Sparkling; Comedy for Dc Luxe.
Continuing in the gloried tradition of "It Happened One Night," "Mr. Deeds-Goes to Town," and "Theodora Goes Wild," the. Columbia Studios film, "More Than a Secretary," to show at the De Luxe, Wellington, next Friday, sparkles with rich comedy. Its principals, Jean Arthur and. George Brent, are cast with exceptionally strong supporting players, including Lionel Slander, Ruth Donnelly, Dorothea Kent, and Reginald Denny. The story of the picture concerns an inhibited and schoolgirlish spinster running a secretarial school. On the other side there is Brent, editor of a health magazine, heartily jovial, and of the type which performs calisthenics each morning. The Spinster becomes the editor's secretary, doubles the circulation of the magazine,.' and Is fired by the irate editor for various misdemeanours.. Circulation considerations, however, compel him to bring her back to the office, and the comedy becomes faster and funnier and exceptionally amusing as the story develops. The spinster quits a second time, apparently for ever. How • the editor inveigles her bacft comupletes the story and makes the film memorable. The dialogue is brilliant and witty, and the spice of sentiment makes the film outstanding in all respects.
L. Sullivan, a garage proprietor, of 12 Tainui Terrace, was run over by a motor-car at about 6.30 p.m. on Saturday, and he was taken to hospital by the Free Ambulance suffering from a crushed foot.
