ST. GEORGE BEAT RANDWICK
The St. George senior Rugby League team have found their true playing form at last, and their victory, by 32 points to 3, over Randwick at Newtown Park on Saturday was" well deserved. The St. George backs and forwards combined effectively, some of the movements being of a. spectacular nature. Every member of the team' had a share in the-victory, and the passing movements especially were thoroughly well clone. Mijlholland and O'Connor were the outstanding players on the St. George side, while J. Shaw, of Randwick, displayed ability on attack and defence. Both teams fought out the opening stages in spectacular fashion, St. George scoring a try in the first few minutes. Randwick, however, retaliated with a back passing movement which ended in a try. With the score 3-all Randwick struggled . hard for mastery,- but the St. George combination proved superior, and although Randwick displayed enterprise they had not the dash and initiative of their opponents, St. George eventually forcing them to play a defensive game. At half-time St. George led by 14 points to 3. The second half saw St. George launching vigorous attacks on Randvvick's line and though the defence vigorously resisted, St. George added 18 points. Randwick was unfortunate in that several promising passing movements, which should have ended in scores, collapsed just short of the line. The team will prove harder to beat as the season progresses. Scorers for St. George were A. Swanberg, Mulholland, Cook (2), O'Connor (2), B. Bayley, and J. Wilson. O'Connor converted three tries, and Spencer kicked a penalty goal. F. Hey scored for Randwick. The referee was Mr. McCaskill.
