TENNIS CLUB DANCE

I (From "The Post's" Representative.) J The presentation of club trophies iwon during the season took place at |the annual dance of the Lower Hutt Tennis Club. The R.S.A. Club rooms were utilised for the purpose and the orchestra supplied good music. The trophies were presented by me Mayor, Mr. J. W. Andrews, who was introduced by the club captain, Mr. B. Gibbons. The committee organising the dance were the Misses M. Chesney (wearing blue crepe de chine), J. Butchers (figured marocain), B. Gibbons (brown coin spot taffetas), •>■ Gibbons (blue moire taffetas), N. Olphert (black matalasse), Mrs. E. G. Thompson, and Mrs. I. Jones, and Messrs. B. Gibbons, L. O. Evans, K. Jones, F. S. Ransom, A. R. Tilbury, and W. E. Jarman (secretary). Those attending included Mr. and Mrs. Tilbury (the latter wearing blue velvet), Mr. and Mrs. E. Lund (figured georgette), Mr. and Mrs. Stratmore (scarlet and black), Mr. and Mrs. Vondersloot (blue floral ninon), Mr. and Mrs. J. Cheevers (black velvet), the Misses Joan Fenwick (green floral ninon), Jean Fenwick (black georgette), G. Abercrombie (green figured voile), Fee Evers-Swindell (black taffetas), Moira Burnside (floral georgette), D. Kelly (wine moire taffetas), H. Guinness (blue mariette), Joan Burrell (ciel blue taffetas), I. Schwieters (brown taffetas), M. Standish (figured georgette), Betty Smith (lemon mariette), Dorothy Palmer (white and silver), Y. Holmes (floral marocain), Ruth Wheeler (blue cloque), J. Roberts (blue floral crepe), Helen Ward (flowered satin), B. Thomson (white spotted net), M. Drysdale (jade matalasse), E. Low (royal blue marocain), R. Spencer (violet cloque), M. Nolan (floral tunic over black), Edna Savage (pink floral georgette), G. Judd (wine satin), Messrs. R. Gordon, R. Welch, E. Ridyard, E. Roussell, Futter, D. Morpeth,' G. Evers-Swindell, G. Gibbons, K. King, T. Murray, A. Hughes, S. McDonald, S. Drysdale, R. Millard, G. Hill, T. Murray, R. Roberts, T. Rapley, T. West-Watson, N. Tosswill, R. Lamberg, D. Fenwick, W. Lees, D. Dyer, R. Fell, K. Dyer, T. Bush, and R. Jones. Trophy winners were as follows: — Men's championship singles, F. S. Ransom; ladies' championship singles, Mrs. Kennedy; combined doubles, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Tilbury; men's doubles, K. B. Longmore and A. R. Tilbury; ladies' doubles, Mesdames E. G. Thompson and Tilbury. Handicap trophies were won by L. O. Evans, Mrs. Tilbury (singles); combined doubles, Mis? J. Douthett and W. E. Jarman; men's doubles, F. S. Ransom and A. R. Tilbury; ladies' doubles, Mesdames Tilbury and King. Workshops Dance. The. social committee of the Hutt j Railway Workshops held its well-at- j tended dance in the social hall at the j Hutt. Mr. W. Smith was M.C. The j committee responsible for the arrange-1 ments comprised Messrs. H. Chappell, F. Eastham, I. Thompson, A. Stratford, J. H. Leopard, T. Pincock, T. Topham, and F. C. Parr (secretary).
