A NEW BRANCH?

An informal meeting was held at Wanganui on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the possibility of forming a branch of the National Council of Women in the city. Miss Kirk, Dominion president of the National Council of Women,: vas present, and outlined the scope of the council's activities. It was decided to notify every woman's organisation and invite them to a meeting oh June 21, when it is hoped that a strong branch will be .'formed. , . .

Wanganui W.D.F.U.

The Wanganui branch of the Women's Division FarmersTJnion held its monthly meeting on Wednesday afternoon. It was the first meeting under the new president, Mrs. Susan Scott. *

Mrs. •T. Soundy was chosen to be the branch delegate at the annual conference at Wellington in July. During the afternoon Miss Evelyn Sherriff, of Marton, and Mrs. J. Perrett contributed songs,, with Mrs/.L. Sherriff 'at . the piano. , The speaker for y the afternoon was Miss Alice Wood;: recently returned from a ten-months tour. Her vivid description of places and people abroad was thoroughly enjoyed. .
