Sir John Maffey has expressed a desire to retire from the office of per-. manent Under-Secretary of-State for the Colonies, with effect from' July 1 next. Sir Henry Monck Mason Moore, at present Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Sierra Ledhe, has been appointed an assistant Undersecretary in succession to Sir Cosmo Parkinson, and is to assume duty at the Colonial Office at the beginning of September.
It is also announced that Sir Percy Ezechiel, third Crown agent for the Colonies,,will retire from the service with effect from January 1, 1938, and Mr. Ormsby-Gore has appointed Mr. J. E. W; Flood, an assistant Secretary in the Colonial Office, to succeed him.
