SEASON OPENED

FIVE-GRADE TOURNEY

A tournament for five grades was arranged to open the Wellington basketball season on Saturday, and ! the excellent weather conditions enabled a large number of the games to be completed. Returns from the, tournament will go to the travelling funds of the association, and the entries indicate that the games will prove a financial success. The winner in each grade.is to receive a basketball, and cash prizes are provided for the winners in the second-life division. Island Bay has scored a double win in the fourth grade, and in. the junior division for fifth and sixth grade teams. Thorndon won the second-life division of the fourth grade. Officials in charge of the games on Saturday were the New Zealand president (Mrs. H. D. Muir), general supervisor; Mrs. A. Muir at Mount Cook courts; and Miss O. Wharton at the Hataitai courts.
