The Canterbury Rugby Union's senior competition opened this afternoon, results being as follows: Sunnyside beat Old Boys, 9-6; Albion beat Athletic, 6-3; Sydenham beat Merivale, 23-5; Christchurch beat Linwood, 23-6; University beat Technical Old Boys, 24-5.
