CLUB SATURDAY
PLAYERS SHOW THEIR
PACES
PROMISING FORM
;M6st of the Rugby football:clubs in Wellington had their players tuning up on Saturday, either in match play or practice, for the start of the senior championship competitions next-; Saturday. The main matches, played in aid of the club gymnasium funds, ■■'■■'■ provided much interesting football, and, considering ;the warm weather, most of the players lasted the distance so well that it would seem that at this early stage there is little lacking on- the score of fitness. Much new talent was on view, and most of last season's seniors were also in action. ' The, form generally •was such as to hold out prospects of a high standard of play being reached, early, in the championship competitions. The scores were to i some extent an , indication of thei strength of the sides, but the results! were not to be accepted as furnishing/ a line on championship prospects.
