SALE OF GAY TALKIE
It is reported from Auckland that the three-year-old colt Gay Talkie has been sold to do his future racing in India. The price is stated to have been a substantial four-figure one.
As a two-year-old last season Gay Talkie started twelve times, his best performances being third in the Rakino Handicap .at the Takapuna Meeting,third in the Borough Handic&p and Eldctric Handicap1 at New Plymouth, and.second to Clessamor in the Juvenile Handicap and to Hamarin in the Electric Handicap at Stratford. These were all five-furlong events. . •
This season Gay Talkie won . the Swanson Handicap, one mile, at Avondale, was third in the Avondale Guineas, won the second division of the Gordon Handicap, six furlongs, at Ellerslie, and the Normanby Handicap, one mile, at the same meeting, was second in the President's Handicap,' one mile and a quarter, at the Dargaville Meeting at Avondale; won the Whangarei Cup, of similar distance, was third in the Park Handicap, one mile, at the same meetipg, and recently,'after finishing third.in the Franklin Cup, one,mile and a quarter, won the Ohinemuri Cup, one mile and three furlongs, at Paeroa, and the H. O. Nolan Handicap, one mile and a half, at Ellerslie,, while he finished third ; in the Foley Memorial Handicap, one mile and a quarter, at Avondale. -'
This is, the second horse purchased in,the North Island recently for India. A .few weeks ago Martara, another three-year-old, was acquired for Mr. A. Higgins.
