MORE REFEREES WANTED
An appeal to all Association.football clubs and supporters, to assist in increasing the membership of the Wellington Referees' Association was made at the annual meeting of the association recently/There is a shortage of referees which, it was pointed out, woud not exist if even a small proportion of those qualified became active members of1 the Referees' Association. ; Prospective members were asked to communicate with the referee or^with the Wellington Football Association. . ■' " . ■ ■''■-■ ■'■ ■ Mr. J; Graham presided; over the i ■annual meeting of the Referees' Association, there being a good attendance. The annual report and balance-sheet were received and adopted, discussion taking place in regard to poor attendance at the, fortnightly meeting; All members were ■■'requested' to attend, and assist the officers with their, programme of lectures 'and talks. .Congratulations were accorded Messrs. J.'Banks, V. Whaler, J.:Houston, and E.'McQueen for having passed the examinations for•'their'■■ New 'Zealand Badge. . Thanks were given -to the members of the management'committee and appointment board .for their work, and it was also stressed that a very cordial feeling existed between the W.R.A. and the W.F.A. and the N.Z.R.A. :' v : The ' congratulations of the-meeting were extended to Bruce Mabin on his appointment to the directorship of the Boys' Institute. Congratulations ,were also forwarded to Mr. G. Forbes on his business appointment at Palmerston North. , ■■;■■.■■'.
It was decided to purchase a dozen badges for the W.R.A. Members who desire them are to apply to the hon-'----orary secretary. ./■'-., . . i ,■ A remit waf moved by -Mr. W. E. Watts concerning the selection of referees to control representative, and international games,- and it was decided to ask the N.Z.R.A. to •„■ allowlocal associations to forward for consideration three names for each game, so as to allow the honours to go around. -
