NO JEW'S HARPS NOW
Although formerly an important-ifleld for the sale of Jew's harps,. Germany is now receiving no. shipments from a firm in Birmingham, England, that is said to be 'the: world's only manufacturer of these instruments. The world situation'with ■ regard to Jew's harps was described .in. an announcement from the United States -Department -of Commerce in. which .'it. was said that the one concern , .that . had. a. world monopoly on the. manufacture of the harps had boen controlled' by the' same family for two hundred years and produced its outpilt with :a staff, of 'only ten j skilled artisans.' . The : tion, which the Department" received from J. R. Wilkinson/United' States Consul, said that 50 per cent, of-the output was sold.in Great Britain, '25 per cent, in: the: United States, and 25 per cent, in Empire markets. •
