SEVERAL FATALITIES
MAN PINNED UNDER CAR
1 PEDESTRIAN KILLED
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) GISBORNE, This Day. Two persons lost their lives as a result of motor accidents during the weekend.
A car driven by Bart Lloyd O'Brien, aged 50, left the road at a bend approaching a bridge, and went over abank. It overturned and pinned Mr. O'Brien beneath it, killing him instantly. Mrs. O'Brien, the only' other, occupant, is in hospital suffering from shock and bruises.
The other accident resulted in the death of Miss May Porter, aged 40, daughter of the Rev. W. A. Porter, of North" Auckland, who was crossing the road at Waerengaahika when she was struck by a car driven by A. Sandlant. In swerving in an attempt to avoid Miss Porter, Mr. Sandlant's car ran into a ditch and collided with,a telegraph pole, which was- broken. Mr. Sandlant and two passengers were bruised and shaken, but not seriously injured. . !
