FAIR TO CLOUDY
MILD TEMPERATURES
Special forecast for Wellington:—
Light to moderate northerly winds, freshening somewhat. Weather fair to cloudy and mild.
The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole issued at noon today is for light to moderate and variable winds. The weather will still for the most part be fair to cloudy with mild temperatures, but some scattered local rains are probable.
Anticyclones still lie to the east and over the south-western part of the Tasman Sea, while% pressure is relatively low over the Dominion. Strong northerly winds prevailed yesterday in parts of the Cook Strait area, but otherwise winds were light to moderate in force and rather variable in direction, with northerles to northeasterlies predominating. It,was cloudy at times in most districts and a few isolated light showers were reported, but for the most part the weather was fair and mild.
' It was overcast in Auckland early yesterday morning and a light southerly wind prevailed,'but it gradually cleared, however, and most of the day was fair and warm, the wind turning to the north-east. At 9 a.m. today it was still fair and a light' easterly wind was blowing.
Wellington's weather was fair to cloudy, with 10.5 hours of bright sunshine. A fresh and squally north-west-erly wind blew in the morning, but during the afternoon the wind became more northerly in direction and moderated.
Christchurch had a fine and sunny day with a south-westerly breeze. It was overcast there this morning at 9 a.m.
Dunedin's weather yesterday was cloudy, with fog on the surrounding hills, the wind being a light easterly. During the afternoon a slight shower fell. Conditions this morning were overcast wth a gentle south-westerly breeze.
