AUCKLAND, March 1.
In accordance.with, a wish expressed; in his will, the ashes of a former Mayor of Birkenhead, '■■ Mr. E. G. Skeates, who died in London on October :23,, 1935, were- publicly scattered in the Civic Reserve .at Birkenhead at the conclusion of a ceremony conducted by the:Rtv-..W.. Gatman this evening.
The Petone crew which in winning the New Zealand champion fours at the Akarba regatta on Saturday was congratulated by the Petone; Borough Council last evening. "It is just another link in the chain of Petone's achievements in championship ranks,".said the.Mayor. (Mr. A. Scholefield), in" moving the" resolution.
