MINOR FLOOD IN TOWN

Rain which began a few minutes after the conclusion of the'tJore Racing Club's meeting yesterday .caused: a minor .flood in the town.', The'fall, which: was accompanied" by-a" severe, electrical storm, lasted only two-hours, but it; was sufficient: . to streets and gardens. :.-;.:■. ~-, *-;■{:.. -v,V:Ar "-.';■,■

The drainage system in the business area was incapable of dealing with the water, which mounted to the inside; edges of the footpaths and, in one or two instances, invaded the buildings. Blocks of wood in crossings to rightofways were carried away by the flood and may not, be recovered. Late at night ■ the water was still washing across' the bitumen' in some' streets.
