ALL-DAY TENNIS

PRE-WEDDING PARTY

Miss Nancy Wheeler and her fiance, Mr. Hillis Symes, were.the guests of honour at an all-day tennis party given yesterday by Mr. and Mrs. D. G. Johnston at their home, "Kincora," Western Hutt Road, where the reception will be • held "after Miss Wheeler and' Mr. Symes's wedding next week.

The tennis toqk the form of a tournament, others taking part being Mr. and Mrs. Lan Reid, the Misses Ruth Wheeler, Doris Symes, Molli'e Peacock, Alison. Pearce, Frances' Parker, and Messrs. Tony Roberts, Bryan Silk, McKinny, Denis Blundell, and Colin Armstrong. A few sets we£e played; and the guests enjoyed a swim in the bathing pool in the garden before lunch, which was served buffet fashion under the trees. Afterwards play continued, Mrs. Lan Reid.and Mr. Denis Blundell being the winners of the tournament.

Miss Wheeler is a member of the Thorndon Lawn Tennis' Club, and earlier in the week she and a number of other members of the club were" entertained at A tennis tea party given

in her honour by Miss Alison Pearce. They played tennis on the club courts, and adjourned to Miss Pearce's home in Hobson Street for tea.
