FENCING DISPLAYS

Some interesting and hard fighting was witnessed on Saturday evening in Miss Peggy Fallavers salle d'armes, when &. team from . the '.. Wellington Swords Club met representatives of H.M.S. Achilles in a return match. The standard of fighting has greatly improved, and the teams were very evenly matched, Wellington winning the foil bouts by 9 points to 7. The Navy proved superior in the sabre pool, winning 3-1. Page, of the Achilles, was Olympic sabre champion in 1933, but owing to lack of practice his standard has naturally suffered. The referees were Miss Peggy Fallaver,' Dr; Beeby; and Messrs., G. Harcourt, Heath, and Page.
