SERVICE TO ACCOUNTANTS
"Remarkably efficient service—loyal and unselfish," was one of the tributes paid to Mr. H. Valentine (Wellington) at yesterday's meeting of the council of the New Zealand Society of Accountants. Since his election in 1929 he served continuously until pressure of work in his present position (second assistant-manager of the Railways Department)- ■ obliged him ,to decline nomination for a further term.
All of his fellow-councillors spoke in warm appreciation of his helpful, energetic devotion to duty, particularly as a member of the education committee. It was mentioned that. his keen study o£ problems and his ability to put his impressions and opinions into clear, concise language had been of very great value to the society during recent difficult years. A resolution recording the society's indebtedness to his painstaking service was adopted.
